Homayun Gharavi

Homayun Gharavi-Nouri (born July 30, 1968 in Teheran) is a German doctor and sports scientist of Iranian descent.
== Personal life ==
Homayun Gharavi was born into an Iranian family of diplomats and came to Germany as a small child.
In 1988 he started studying medicine and sports science at the University of Göttingen in Germany, which he completed in 1996 granting him the titles of Dr. med. and Dr. disc. pol.. In the years between 1997 and 2001 Gharavi was a scholar at the University of California, Davis and worked in the sports medical Athletic Training Team of Jeff Hogan.
In 2003 he founded the company ''Deutsche Akademie für angewandte Sportmedizin'' (DAASM)〔http://www.daasm.org/〕 with its headquarters located in Lüneburg. During this time he also started to work with Toni Graf-Baumann(FIFA) as well as Oliver Schmidtlein. From 2006 till 2008 Homayun Gharavi worked as the team doctor and strength and conditioning coach of the American Football-Association of Bavaria, Germany. 2009 and 2010 Ghravi mentored the A-Squad swimmers of the DSV (Deutscher Schwimm Verband) as a team doctor. 2010 Gharavi rehabiltated the Russian swimmer Anastasia Valeryevna Zuyeva out of her injured state back to the championship level, resulting in her taking gold at World Championships of 2011 in Shanghai.
In 2012 Gharavi accompanied the Russian olympic squad of swimmers to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London as a conditioning coach. Numerous national coaches from various sport disciplines, such as Martin Hanselmann (American Football Germany), James Gibson (British Swimming) and recently Jürgen Klinsmann - in preparation for the 2014 Football Worldcup -, have collaborated with Homayun Gharavi.
Gharavi is considered a critique of established training and therapy methods like muscle stretching,〔http://www.netzathleten.de/fitness/star-interviews/item/3769-interview-mit-dr-dr-homayun-gharavi-den-muskel-zu-dehnen-ist-vergangenheit〕 isometric stabilization training or conventional immobilisation protocols which are used after fractures and soft tissue injuries. He is also the creater of the elastic suspension trainer (4D PRO Reaction Trainer), which was introduced in 2012.〔auch U.S. Patent ''Exercising apparatus'' WO 2013045162 A1〕 As of 2011 Gharavi works in various top athletic associations as a consultant and conditioning coach.
Homayun Gharavi was the initiator and vice-president of the "World Summit of interdisciplinary Sports Medicine and Athletic Care" 2010 in Zeulenroda.
